Volunteer Spotlight: Parking Lot Attendants

Our parking lot attendants are outside year round directing traffic and assisting clients before they even enter our doors. No matter what the weather may be, our parking lot attendants always have a smile and kind greeting for everyone.

Kevin Brooks has been volunteering for the Westchester Food Pantry for over two years. “I had recently retired and wanted a meaningful volunteer opportunity,” he said. Kevin started assisting clients indoors, but was drawn to help outside. He also assists with food reclamation.

Kevin, a La Grange Park resident, is following in his father’s footsteps. “My dad volunteered at a food pantry, and I saw how rewarding it was for him.”

You can find Kevin in the Pantry parking lot every Wednesday afternoon and evening. “Volunteering is a real lifesaver, and I encourage everyone to volunteer at the Westchester Food Pantry.”

Anne Foley began volunteering last fall, and immediately joined the parking lot crew. “The Pantry is such a well-run organization. I feel like my time here is well spent!” Anne stated.

Volunteering outside has allowed Anne to get to know practically everyone who comes through our doors. “The people who are served here are so grateful for our services, and the volunteers are a fun group of people. It’s a pleasure to work with everyone!” Anne said.

You can find Anne in the Pantry parking lot every Saturday morning, rain or shine!
